Paleo Dessert

I'll admit it, I have the biggest sweet tooth ever. And I'll also admit that I gorge myself on ice cream once a week. I know I told you all to cut out grains and dairy and I know I should follow my own advice. So I've been looking for alternative dessert choices. I think I found a good one. This custard recipe from Mark Sisson at Mark's Daily Apple looks delicious. And it is not just any custard it is a "Frozen Primal Custard". It has to be good. In Mark's words, it "combines the best parts of all my favorites – the sweetness of a cookie, the texture of a chilled cake, the satisfying warm flavor of a gooey brownie." I am going to attempt to make it this weekend and I'll let you all know how it is. The real test will be if it can stave off my cravings for Dulce de Leche ice cream!

How would you all feel about organizing a group dinner where we all seek out great paleo recipes and get together for a delicious and healthy meal? I think it would be a lot of fun. It would be a great way for us all to socialize outside of CrossFit Boston, and to try some paleo recipes that maybe we would be hesitant about attempting on our own.

  1. I think that would be an awesome idea! I'll admit, I've got a crazy schedule (which of us doesn't!) but I'll do my best to make whatever night we pick work! And that custard looks AWESOME. Meg was formulating something similar!

  2. Jen, I saw that recipe yesterday & am scheming a bunch of desserts now (I used to cook elaborate dinners and bake/cook desserts for stress relief before our group and hope to again, once I sort out this diet), alongside a stovetop pudding, a fruit and almond milk frozen treat (I'm thinking granita-style with a bit of tequila mixed in for a grown-up & paleo cocktail) there's also coconut flour-based and/or almond flour-based cupcakes in the works. & there's pancake & halvah recipes, too. I'm kind of obsessed. The trick is finding ingredients with enough natural sweetness to support only a wee bit of agave going in.

I'd love to have a Paleo group dinner, definitely. My schedule's not as bad as Amber's, my Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays are the most flexible evenings for me.
