Start Now

This morning we had the much anticipated nutrition talk. I asked you all to cut grains and dairy out of your diet. Amber pointed out to me a great article on Melissa Byer's blog which asks the same thing of her clients. I have linked to that blog post here because she lays it out pretty clearly and with no sympathy. It is a challenge and it is difficult but very doable. So stop making excuses and start taking care of yourselves. You all have devoted so much time and effort in the last month. Now I'm asking you to take the next step.

Melissa Byer's Nutrition Challenge

Post to comments what you ate for the rest of the day, after we talked. Meghan, did you eat that bagel, or go to the store for some protein?

3 comments:

  1. Post-workout: 3 scrambled eggs with romano cheese, eggs, 3 heads of baby bok choi (braised in veg stock), 2 handfuls blueberries
Lunch-ish: 1 can of tunafish (no better protein in the house that was defrosted!), salad, sauteed chard stems
    Snack-ish:
Dinner: meatloaf, sauteed spinach, roasted broccolini, green salad

I am still ravenous & shaky, though -- I think today's workout was heavy enough for me that my body isn't bouncing back as well as it usually does.

  2. I wanted to point folks (other than Meghan) to a few local farms that do meat CSAs: locally-raised (fresh!), well-treated (happy!), and well-fed (healthier!) meat is SO much better than what you'll get at most butchers or grocers, and it's much, much easier, too. I pick up my meat once a month, flash-frozen, and defrost as desired.
Currently, I split a share with 2 other families, but with the new eating plan, I may need to look into getting rid of my divided share & get a bigger one for myself (& the husband).

Option 1: Chestnut Farms in Hardwick, MA
Option 2: Stillman's Farm in Hardwick, MA (their CSA program is sadly sold out through the summer, but a great option come fall, but they do sell at farmer's markets)

  3. So Ladies, I had a chinese chicken salad at Boloco today, it has, (lots of) grilled chicken, lettuce, sliced almonds, and sesame seed dressing. I asked, and the dressing has sea salt, but no soy! It's supposed to have rice noodles, but I asked them to just give me more lettuce. Next time I'll ask for cucumbers instead, but this thing was seriously delish :) If you're starving and find a boloco, I highly recommend it!
