Yesterday was our first scored workout. Most of our workouts will be timed or scored so that we are able to see your progress when we repeat a workout. There is always motivation when you are working out in a group, but there is no better motivation than beating yourself. It means you are becoming stronger and fitter and leaving your old self in the dust!
We performed a modified version of a workout called "Cindy". Your score is the amount of rounds you can complete in the given time period.
As Many Rounds As Possible in 10 minutes of:
5 pullups
10 pushups
15 squats
Did you ever think that you could get such a great workout in 10 minutes? How many rounds did you get? Which part was the hardest for you?

The pushups are always the hardest part of this workout for me. I finish them for one round and am so thankful to move on to my squats and then before I know it I'm back to the damn pushups again!
ReplyDeleteThe pullups were, by far, the hardest part for me. I think this was partially because they were an unfamiliar movement (pushups and squats have been part of many workouts for me, whereas pullups are new), but also partially because they required the most awareness of my body hanging below me (in both pushups and squats I know how to engage my whole body in the movement, but pullups feel like hauling dead weight).
ReplyDeleteI almost managed to finish 4 rounds (though I think both my pushup and squat forms suffered for the speed at which I blew through them to get back to dangling off the pullup bar and groaning), just 5 squats short of completion.
I'm definitely feeling our 10 minute workout today, which is fantastic: I have proof of how hard I worked!
I also wanted to point out how neat it was to have all of us weaving around each other as we did our circuits, it felt almost like a dance. I picked up the tempo of my pullups as I watch Robin do hers & I was more aware of my pushup form as I alternated pushups with Casey on one of the cubes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, ladies, for working together!!!
3 rounds, and a few pull ups. I have no idea why but the third round of pull ups was far easier than the second, adrenaline perhaps? It was really great watching and encouraging everyone else while I did my workout. And man, my pecs HURT on Saturday :)
ReplyDeleteI feel my glutes from the exercise today Monday 6/8. The running was tough for me - toughest task yet. Looking forward to yoga tomorrow. I'd really like us to start a 5-10 min group talk once a week or each day after we exercise, thoughts?? Reasons: to get to know each other, provide updates on progress, offer support, etc.. This would be a perfect time to share and to listen. SL
